Wendy MacFarlane
Midwife
- IntroductionI graduated from Ara with a bachelor of midwifery in 2005 and have been working as an LMC midwife in Canterbury ever since. I am also a very proud mother of 7 amazing children. When I am not working you will find me at F45 each morning getting my exercise in to start the day. Evenings and weekends are usually spent watching and supporting my children’s sports, driving them to and from their activities and when time allows spending time with friends, eating good food and lots of laughter! I enjoy travelling and holidaying anywhere warm. Enjoy the gym when time allows and spending time with family and friends .
- About MeI believe pregnancy, labour and birth is an incredible life event and your journey is unique whether it is your 1st baby or 5th! I am passionate about providing safe and personalised maternity care to women and their family/whānau. Throughout your journey into parenthood it is my role to provide you with balanced evidence-based information about all aspects of maternity care. I believe that this is your pregnancy, your baby your body and you have the right to make decisions that are best for you and your family. I strive to ensure women feel comfortable, reassured, and safe throughout the entire journey of pregnancy, labour, birth and the beginning weeks of parenthood. I will support you to birth in the environment you are most comfortable in, whether that be your home, a birthing unit or at Christchurch Women’s Hospital. Giving birth is one of the most special times in a woman’s life. It would be a privilege to share in your journey. I work closely with my practice partner Tania Barrington to ensure seamless continuity of care for you throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth.
As a practice, we absolutely share a vision to keep things as low-intervention as we possibly can and try to promote our wonderful primary units (Lincoln, St Georges and Rangiora).
